Is This A Camping Event?
Yes. Please bring all your own camping gear. However, no camp stoves or open flames are permitted due to the extremely high risk of wild fire. Also, no candles or incense in your tents for the potential risk involved.
Several port o' potties are provided on site as well as a few showers. Please use all natural biodegradable personal care products. The well water at Pacha Mama's is potable (drinkable) and very delicious!
Inside bunk accommodations are available on a limited basis for those with special physical limitations for a small additional charge of $10. Please let us know through e-mail if you will need a bunk. registration@socalsacredfire.com
Are Kids Welcome?
Yes! No childcare will be provided, so parents need to be mindful that the site has
its hazards, like any rustic setting, such as poison oak beyond the beaten paths.
Please see the registration page for children's rates.
Are Pets Allowed?
No. We cannot have any animals brought to the site. Please do not bring pets with you.
What if I Can't Stay Awake All Night?
Rest as you need. However, you'll benefit the most from your fire circle experience
by pushing through your resistance. Lots of your "stuff" may come up and that is the purpose of the fire circle. Make a commitment to stay in circle to come out the other side of your resistance. Besides, it gets really juicy at dawn. Rather than
going back to your tent, bring a tarp, blanket,
and pillows to create a "nesting area" just outside the circle for resting.
Is this Like a Drum Circle?
There are some similarities, but many differences. In a drum circle the emphasis is on everyone playing an instrument. There may or may not be a leader or facilitator.
In a sacred fire circle, there are no leaders, everyone participates in co-creating sonic magic together. We are there for celebration, but also for deep personal transformational work. Not everyone will be in the drummers area at the same time, but everyone is encouraged to take turns playing.
The rest of the time participants can dance, sing, create a chant or poem on the spot! You are invited to assist in "service" by offering water or snacks to each other, or "holding space" at the perimeter of the circle.
What Instruments are welcome?
Bring your Djembes, doumbeks, singing bowls, didgeridoos, bells, chimes, claves, shakers, frame drums, talking drums, congas, jaw harps, bird whistles, crickets, and frogs! String and wind instruments, too.
Oh yes, and your voices above all. There is time and place for all to be heard, with open ears, minds and hearts. Time for silence is also magical.
What is the Alcohol/Drug Usage Policy?
We encourage you to experience this weekend alcohol and chemical-free.
The nature of this event is spiritually oriented, and while we recognize the
validity of chemical enhancement to spiritual experience, it is our intention to
achieve a higher state of consciousness through the energy we cultivate in the fire
circle. Please keep all forms of smoking outside of the fire circle.
What Should I Wear?
Wear what you dare! Costumes are encouraged - be creative! Let your attire
be a reflection of your spiritual journey and inner personality. What unleashes the Divine in you?
On a practical note, dress in layers, though it will most likely be a very comfortable temperature. The less clothing between you and the fire,
the warmer you'll be. But once you step away from the fire, wrap up
in something warm. Wear footwear that's comfortable to dance in, or go bare at your discretion.
Please leave your blinky lights at home, as the artificial light is disorienting to those in circle.
What is the weather like?
During Summer in the mountains the days are sunny and warm with temperatures in the 80' and maybe 90's. At night it will drop into the 70's or 60's, very comfortable! Bring layers for your comfort.
What Airport Do I Fly Into?
San Diego International Airport. http://www.san.org/ The airport is about 70 miles from the site. We recommend renting a car for traveling.
How Can I Help?
Many hands make light work. To become more integrally involved in this gathering, please consider arriving on Friday to volunteer your time. During the gathering, we could use your help with many small tasks. Just ask! Assistance with packing and clean up on Sunday is most appreciated.
Can I Bring My RV?
The last 6 miles of road to the site are very rough with sharp switchbacks. RVs under 23' should be able to make the journey with extreme caution.
Can I Spin Fire?
No. We will be in a very high risk area for wild fires.
Can I Take Pictures at the Fire?
No. We'd like to ask that no photos be taken at the Fire Circle, as it is distracting for some people while in sacred space. During the rest of the gathering, yes, photos are ok as long as everyone in the picture offers their permission to be photographed.
